Although, Family Counseling Service is multi--disciplinary, varied in its aims, and speaks with many voices, we are united in our concern with promotion of healthy growth in the individual, the couple, the family and society through attention not only to illness but also to the conditions which seem to permit growth and development (or developmental change).  It would seem that now, more than ever, there is a noticeable and growing trend indicating the intense emotional strain that is affecting many couples in today’s harsh economic times.  Couples are increasingly being faced with the challenge of re-defining roles within the couple, and subsequently, the family.  Consequently, couples are struggling with the prospect of acclimating to these changes, the effects of which are frequently devastating, bringing many couples to the brink of separation and/or divorce.  For many, the added financial burdens make the prospect of obtaining the needed couples therapy an unlikely prospect.  As such, Family Counseling Service is attempting to meet this very apparent need by offering couples counseling services at a fraction of the typical cost. Family Counseling Service is now in the position to better provide these needed services through scholarships for healthy relationships through the generous support from both the Lexington Clinic and the Cralle Foundations.  We know that couples, and as a result, their families are stronger and healthier with the support of quality mental health services provided by Family Counseling Service.
